ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING PALM DOVE (STREPTOPELIA SENEGALENSIS) HUNTING

by | Aug 22, 2022 | News

Dear Hunters,

As you know, after many years a new game species has been added to the hunting map, after the efforts to allow the hunting of the phoenix warbler (streptopelia senegalensis) by derogation for the first time, since its numbers in our country made it necessary, bore fruit.

In order to be able to hunt it in the coming years as well, if the numbers remain as they are today, all hunters should STRICTLY comply with the Game Service instructions below, for mandatory RECORDING of the harvest.

1. The fruiting of palm doves will only be allowed during the period from 21/8/2022 until 18/9/2022 unless the set limit of fruiting, which is 15,000 palm doves, is reached earlier.

2. The maximum harvest (KOTA) for a hunter in one hunting trip will be ten (10) palm doves.

3. The hunter, for each palm dove he hunts, should record it in the smart phone application Artemis Cy (Android & IOS) which is provided free of charge. Registration is mandatory under the relevant legislation and failure to register is punishable by a fine of €100.

4. The limit of fruiting of palm doves per hunter for the entire period, when the hunting of woodpeckers will be allowed, will be thirty (30) palm doves.

5. In exceptional cases where the above is not possible, the hunter who hunted a palm dove can send a text message (sms) stating the number of the identity card (ADT), the number of the hunting license (AAK) the number of palm doves caught (T) and whether they are juveniles (N) or adults (E).
